IRC, short for Internet Relay Chat is the way in which people talk in real time over the internet. For those of you who have experience with online services such as America Online, IRC is in some ways similar to the chat rooms featured on those services. However they are not entirely the same.

There are three major IRC networks:

Of these the EFNet is the largest and the DalNet is the smallest. That doesn't mean either one is the best, it all depends on what you are looking for. We recomend that you try all three networks and find which one you like the best.
