The League Of Women Voters Of Westchester And The
Westchester Alliance For Telecommunications And Public Access
Put The 1997 Westchester Voters Guide On The World Wide Web

October 27, 1997 -- The League of Women Voters Of Westchester (LWVW) and
the Westchester Alliance For Telecommunications And Public Access (WATPA)
are pleased to announce that the 1997 Voter's Guide is on the World Wide
Web. Now, voters in the county can find out about all the candidates and
proposals on the November ballot - from their homes or from any public
library in the county.

The Guide is at http://www.watpa.org/lwv/1997_vg/lwvguide.htm. The
League's main site is at http://www.watpa.org/lwv/lwvhome.html -- where
voters can find links to political sites of all kinds, including those
created by each of the candidates for County Executive. WATPA's PathMaster
Home Page is at http://www.watpa.org

Jo Brill, President of the LWVW said: "We provide information on every
state, county and local candidate running this year, as well as ballot
proposals, such as the School Bond Act and on the constitutional
convention. It is important that this information get to voters in every
way possible - including the Internet.

"We really appreciate the work done by WATPA and its dedicated LWV Web
designers, including Irene Herz who prepared the Voters Guide site. We
also thank the Westchester Library System for hosting this effort and
making the information freely available in all the public libraries."

Dr. Norman Jacknis, Chairman of WATPA, added: "The on-line version of the
Voter's Guide is as complete in its details as the printed version, but, as
a Web publication, it is easy to use, can be searched quickly on any topic
and never gets lost. Last year's presentation of the Guide was a great
success and we know people will find it useful again this year. Like
WATPA's presentation of the minutes of the County Board of Legislators,
this is part of WATPA's continuing volunteer effort to help Westchester
residents get the most value from the Internet."
