It would look that way if you read this article, beause Ms. Olson seems to
have based her article based on the Verisign press release.

What happened was ICANN finally ORDERED them to take it down, and gave them
until tonight. It's down now.

ICANN brings up a reason this wildcard is bad that I haven't thought of.
Previously, non-english speaking people would get an error from their
browser in their locally configured langauge. After, they would get sent to
the site-finder site in English only. Really helpfull there.
