Instructions for Configuring MacTCP and MacPPP For Connecting to WestNet

1. Open the MacTCP control panel from the control panels folder.

2. Select the PPP icon.

3. Do not change the IP address.

4. Click on More button to bring up the MacTCP configuration Dialog.

	         MacTCP config dialog

1. Set obtain address button to server
2. Set class to Class C
Since the addresses are set by the system, the gate way address does not have to be set.
3. Set the Domain Name server information as in the table above.
4. Click on OK

To configure PPP, bring up the config PPP control panel.
1. Set PPP Server to westnet.com
2. click on the config button

MacPPP Configure Server dialog:
1. PPP Server Name: westnet.com
2. Port Speed: 19,200, 38400, or 57,600 depending upon you modem
3. Flow control: CTS&RTS (DTR)
4. Tone Dial
5. Enter the appropriate phone number for your area and modem. Please only use the numbers marked US Robotics if your modem is a US Robotics Sportster or Courier.

6. Modem Init: (Enter the initialization string for your modem)
7. Modem Connect time out 90 secs.
8 . Click on Connect Script

Close MacPPP and Mac TCP
Reboot to make sure everything is changed.
Go to the ConfigPPP Panel.
Click on open.

You should be up and running

Configuring Eudora

To configure Eudora to read your e-mail:

1) Run Eudora

2) From the Special menu, select Configuration

3) Enter the following:

POP Account: enter your full e-mail address in the form user@westnet.com For example I am chris@westnet.com
Real Name: Enter your full real name, as if you were signing a letter.
SMTP Server: westnet.com

Leave all other fields blank. Click on OK

4) From the Special menu, select Switches

5) In the top center of the window, check the Save Password option.

6) To read your mail, from the File menu, select 'Check Mail'

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

Appletalk must be turned off
If you decide to install Netscape, make sure there are no remnants of another version of Netscape.
You will probably want to set-up Netscape's home page to default to WestnNet's home page, http://www.westnet.com/ This can be done from the 'Preferences' menu.
