I did have luck reaching him on Monday.  I know he went out to dinner
Sunday, so if you called later in the day you would have missed him.  Many
of our recent conversations have revolved around his induction into the
HOF
in a few weeks.  This led to classic, Kohnesque comments about not becoming
"bigheaded" because of this honor.  He assures me this will not change him,
that we will all still be able to approach him just as we have in the past.
This was reassuring.

I took Hannah and Connor to Pete's house in Middlebury last night to look
for some memorabilia for the
HOF ceremony.  The house was over 1,000 degrees
and had a fairly musty smell, so it was a mistake bringing the children as
my search was cut short by some serious (justified) whining.  I did,
however, in a very short time get a treat by looking through some of the old
albums, awards, etc.  He has an entire book shelf in his bedroom and boxes
throughout the house filled with his photo albums and memorabilia.  This did
not come as a surprise to me, but it was the first time I was grabbing
random albums and boxes and looking through them.  I would just grab an
album and open to a random page.  Each find blessed me with great memories.
This album finds us in
Mellor, England in the Mellor clubhouse after a
lacrosse game.  The next album finds us with John Atherton playing guitar at
Matt Slautterback's Memorial Service.  This album finds us seeing Pete
singing
Park School for his usual, enraptured audience.  I could have spent
countless hours (if it weren't for the heat!) reliving the history of
Middlebury lacrosse/athletics for the past 20 years.

For anyone who can consider attending the
HOF ceremony at the Fleet Center,

please do not forget how much this means to Peter and the range of
experience he will have depending on how many of us can attend.  Let's be
sure this is a night to remember for Peter.
