A few more details from the Middlebury/Amherst game on Saturday.  The
difference in our play between the Amherst and Union games was better
energy, spacing, balance and shooting on the offensive end and better
end-to-end play.  We also had an excellent day facing off and Eric Krieger
played well in the goal.  The offensive execution resulted in better shot
selection as we tended to move the ball for the extra pass instead of
dodging through slides or forcing shots early.  You can usually judge our
offensive execution by the attack stat line and this game is a good example.
Zack Herbert had 5 goals, Dave Seeley 3, Holt Hopkins had 1 but added 4
assists.  The midfield scoring was balanced as well with Matt Dunn picking
up 2 goals and an assist.  His first goal was our first and set the tone for
the day.  We had a great possession and it ended with Matt dodging lefty
down the side with perfect off ball balance by his teammates creating a
great dodging lane, he was able to walk in for a 5 yard shot which he stuck
off-hip.  Christopher Davis had one goal, but it was a heck of a rip right
under the cross bar from over 10 yards out!  Bryan Sanchez had a great day
in a new role.  We moved him to defensive middie to better utilize his
athletic ability.  The irony of today's specialization is that many of your
better athletes spend their time in transition getting on and off the field.
We are trying to combat this by having 3 of our best athletes alternate at
defensive midfield so they are pushing the ball in transition and keeping
the other team's offensive middies on the field for defense.  Bryan picked
up one goal in transition and played great on ball defense, he added a
second goal playing offensive middie late in the game.

We go down to Tufts on Wednesday and play at 4:00.  I don't know much about
Tufts yet, although I do know they are better this year than they have been
in the last couple.

As you know we play Bowdoin this weekend and we also have the Alumni Dinner
and Alumni Game.  You will probably get a note from me in the next day or
two with some details.
