We just returned late yesterday, so some delayed comments from the game.
You have had a bit of a play by play from some of those attending, but a
couple additional comments follow.  Thanks to all of those in attendance...great turnout!

We started the game with a 5-0 flurry which made it look to some as if we
might run away with the game, I never had that feeling.  They are too good
across the board at all positions for the game to continue in that lopsided
fashion.  We scored early by having possession of the ball, great ball
movement which generated high percentage shots and we finished well.  At the
defensive end we played solid, fundamental defense with great goaltending
play by Eric Krieger.
Gettysburg is extremely patient on offense and they
had the ball for long stretches during the 2nd and 3rd Quarters.  Our
defense remained patient and poised and played consistently well throughout
the game.  Caleb Holmes did a particularly great job covering Pete Milliman,
pre-season player of the year, holding him to one shot on the day.  Caleb
matched up on him the same way Brian Nickel did in the championship game
last year, just breaking down with his stick on his right hand and playing
patiently.

During our 2 quarter goal drought we still generated some quality shots, the
goalie made some excellent saves, we hit some pipes, we took some
ill-advised shots, and then we tightened up a little and had the dropsies on
a few easy opportunities.

The 4th quarter was great for a number of reasons.  Despite being held
scoreless for a while we did not let it affect us down the stretch. Dunn
ripped an outside shot, Seeley ripped his two opportunities and Carroll
finished with confidence as well.  On the defensive end we came up huge down
the stretch with individual defense, team defense and goaltending.

Brian McGregor also did a nice job facing off all day vs. one of the top 2
or 3 face off specialists in the country.  The scales tipped their way a
little when they bumped their talented close defenseman (#31 McMillen) up
from close to play the wings.  He has been a close defenseman all year, so
it is a credit to McGregor that they felt as if they needed to bump him up.

I'm off to a
1:00pm practice, so no preview on our home game vs. Wesleyan
tomorrow.  Suffice to say all of our league games are important and we're
not sneaking up on anyone!  They were hurt by graduation but have some
talent at each position.
