Hey, this is Erin on Rit's computer in a hotel room in New Jersey.  This is
high tech for us, but we all have our cell phones, palm pilots, might as
well bring our lap tops and get the alumni notes out!

For any of you who played against
Conn at Conn on spring break, suffice to
say it was a typical
Conn. College game.  Let's dispense with some excuses
right away...first day on grass, terrible week of practice because of bad
weather (really only one practice the whole week, on Friday).  So, we
started out sloppy and slow early in the game.
Conn. always gets fired up
for us and plays well, and the beginning of the game was no exception.  They
went up 5-3 at one point in the first half.  Part of our slow start was my
fault as I anticipated them playing some defensive games with Dunn, shutting
him off, putting 2 long sticks in our midfield and shutting off an
attackman, which they did.  We had a couple counter plays ready which we
didn't execute and it wasted a couple possessions and started us out in a
slow manner.  We then went through a brief phase during which the attack
attempted to dodge and we had a few turnovers and weak shots, which wasted a
few more possessions.  By that time we were down a few goals.  I think one
of the turning points was a flurry of great saves by Eric Krieger which gave
the team some energy.  Consistently great play by Greg Bastis and Mike
Frissora at defensive midfield and then running the field for fast breaks
kept us in the game.  Frissora and Bastis give us a huge advantage in the
open field, they are fun to watch.  Frissora is the best take away
defenseman since Jed Raymond (yes, he is a short stick d-middie, but he
takes the ball away 6 times a game or so, without losing his body position
or getting penalties.)  When we turned things around Dave Seeley played
exceptionally well.  He is one of those players who can take matters into
his own hands and change the game.  Mike Frissora won the game ball for his
outstanding play at both ends of the field.

We play
Gettysburg at Gettysburg on Wednesday.  They are excellent at all
positions.  They have one of the best goalies, all of their attackmen return
from last year's team and they are very solid at midfield and defense.  They
lost a couple studs at defense and one of the best middies in the country
but they will give us all we can handle.  Hopefully, the two days practicing
on grass on Monday and Tuesday will help us get our legs under us a little.

I don't know if I'll get on the computer right away after the game, so you
might have to wait a couple days after the game for a write up.

Best,
Erin
