Middlebury defeated New England College 25-0 today, finishing just as a heavy snow began to fall, which has not abated since game time.

NEC is young and does not possess a lot of depth, so it was not a competitive game. It was a nice alternative to a practice, however, as we had a free date this weekend before we leave tomorrow for Gettysburg.

The story of the day was our depth and balance.  The score was 25-0 despite mandating long possessions and assisted goals.  We did not feel as if we could hold back our subs entirely when they went in, as this was the first action many of them saw this year.  The starters played well immediately, so the score got lopsided in a hurry.  By the end of the 3rd we had them kill the subs kill the last 5 minutes of the clock without a shot.  Charley Howe had 4 goals, Andrew Giordano had 4 assists, Nick Bastis was 2-2 as was Mike Saraceni. Many of other players scored on the day.

We drive to Gettysburg tomorrow, practice at Gettysburg Tuesday and play them at 3:30 Wednesday.  I think we are very evenly matched if both teams play well.  They are big, talented and athletic.  Springfield was a good preparation for this level of play.  I think Springfield is a top 10 team, Gettysburg is a top 5 team.

We'll be away, so I am not sure whether or not I will get to a computer, or if so, when I will, so check lacrosse websites such as insidelacrosse.com or lax.com for the score.
