Our season came to an end on Saturday down at Amherst in what was a well-played game by the Lord Jeffs.   Our team played hard but we needed to be better at both ends of the field to keep our season going into this week.  We have a tremendous amount of depth and talent returning for next year and once again will have a strong senior class leading the way.

We had our end of the year meeting on Monday evening and I wanted to share some brief thoughts on each of the award winners as well.

Lou Munro Co-MVP's – Cal Williams and Joel Blockowicz.  Cal was named 1st team All NESCAC recently and hopefully will garner some national recognition as well.  He did a fantastic job on the wing this year and was a disruptive presence on the defensive end of the field all season long as he led the NESCAC in caused turnovers during the regular season.  Joel was our 2nd leading scorer this year (23g, 21a in the midfield), 2nd team All NESCAC and consistently came up with a timely play when we needed it the most.  As one of his teammates said during the meeting, I loved calling him captain when he came off the field after making a big play for us, Joel had a fantastic senior season.

Ric Rosbeck MIP – Kyle Soroka.  Kyle played a big role on our team this year after spending his sophomore year on the 3rd midfield line.  This year he started on our man up unit and by our last regular season game had made his way onto the first midfield line.  He finished the season scoring 11 goals in our last 5 games and hopefully will pick up right where he left off last weekend when we get going next spring.

Baggataway (Spirit and Leadership) - Mike Ford.  Mike had been nominated for this award on numerous occasions including his freshman year and was the clear choice by the team this season. When Mike left the room to allow his teammates to speak about him and why he deserved this award, it was clear how much of an impact he had on our team.  The way Mike was able to positively effect each individual on a 45 man roster speaks to how he has been able to connect with others and how much he cares about his teammates.  What an amazing young man, I hope you al get a chance to meet Fordo someday.

Captains – I just made the announcement to the team this morning, they'll be Jon Broome, Sean Carroll, and Harrison Goodkind.  These three will all do a fantastic job leading our team next year and have an outstanding group of seniors around them to help pull us in the right direction.

We will miss this current senior class and the leadership they provided to the team both on and off the field this year.  They certainly set a great example for the younger classes to follow.  We are grateful to have had them and their families in our program for the past four years and I'm incredibly proud to have them representing Middlebury as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.
