The Panthers bounced back on Saturday and picked up a big win in the NESCAC quarters against the Ephs.  We had a great crowd on hand to catch the game and kept everyone in their seats until the final whistle!  Williams had some nice pieces at both ends of the field, none better than Steven Kiesel who finished with 7 goals and is now, thankfully, graduating this May.

Our face off specialist, John Jackson, had a game for the ages.  He finished the game going 27 for 30, picked up 20 ground balls, and chipped in a goal in the 4th quarter after Williams had just made it 11-10 with 12 minutes to play.

As has been reported in the blogosphere, we had a 14-10 lead with 7 minutes to play and proceeded to turn the ball over and make some bad decisions down the stretch.  Credit Williams for making us pay for our mistakes and putting themselves in a position to tie the game with under a minute left to play.  Coming out of a timeout Williams went back to Kiesel who had his hands free at 12 yards and fortunately for us, Will Ernst came up with the save and allowed us to run out the clock.

There's plenty we can learn from this game and hope we will exhibit a little more poise this Saturday against the Jumbos.  It sounds like we'll be in the 2nd semifinal down at Amherst with the first game (Amherst vs. Bates) starting at noon.   Game time is 3pm and should be webcast by Amherst.
