Big win for the Panthers yesterday against the Jeffries, final score 17-14. I'm so proud of our guys for how they competed and how they responded after the loss in Syracuse the other night.

Game ball went to John Jackson who was 23 for 32 and picked up 15 gb's.

When we went on our runs in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters, it was John who ignited them with his dominance at the x. As I said to the team after the game, the resilience we show after all of our close losses will define our season. John's response to losing the face off battle the other night against RIT was to play one of the best games of his career, which is what our team will be known for.

The school formerly known as the Lord Jeffs with their formerly #4 ranked lacrosse team are a very talented group. They have some outstanding players on the offensive end of the field and are excellent in transition.

The way the game played out yesterday we would build up big leads and they would inevitably go on a quick 3 or 4 goal run in a short span thanks to their transition and a few self-inflicted wounds by our team. We were up 4-1 after the first quarter but Amherst rallied to make it 4-4 before we went on a 5 goal run to the close the half, 9-4 Panthers.

In the third we exchanged goals until we eventually went up 14-6 with five minutes to play in the quarter. Once again Amherst went on a quick three goal run to cut it to 14-9 with a minute and a half left in the quarter. On the ensuing face off Wyatt Rancourt (in the game for an exhausted John Jackson at this point) won the move forward and found Jon Broome for what I have heard was Jon's 200th career point. After going back up 17-10 in the 4th with only 10 minutes left, Amherst again scored the next four goals to make it interesting at the end.

Other performances worth noting are the 6 point effort by Sophomore Henry Riehl (4g, 2a), Jack Rautiola's 3 goals and an assist in only his second start of the season, and the two goal efforts by Kyle Soroka, Tim Giarrusso, and Jack Gould in the midfield. We've settled in on two balanced midfield lines, both capable of generating some great offense. One is comprised of all seniors with Jack Cleary, Kyle Soroka, and Sean Carroll. The other with Tim Giarrusso, Henry Riehl, and Jack Gould. Opponents are having a hard time figuring out which of those guys to pole on each line. Both RIT and Amherst double poled the midfield for most of the game with RIT actually triple poling our midfield at one point in the game the other night.
