First up were the St. Lawrence Saints who came out flying against us and took a quick 6-3 lead after the first quarter.  I have always felt our mid-week home games are some of our toughest games for the team to get up for as they run down to the field straight from class and this one was no exception.  Our guys rallied and chipped away at the lead over the next few quarters and finally took the lead in the 4th on two man up goals to make it 12-10.  Unfortunately a few costly failed clears allowed St. Lawrence to tie the game at 12 before Jack Gould scored his third goal of the fourth quarter to put us back up by a goal with a few minutes to play.

At that point we got a stop on defense and had a chance to ice the game in our offensive end.  We broke their initial double team and had them scrambling to get organized with about 30 seconds left and just lost our composure and threw the ball away.  While we had talked about end of game situations and practiced it a bit, we needed to do a better job of preparing the guys for that moment and unfortunately it slipped away as they scored with 5 seconds left to send it to OT.  Both teams traded scoring chances in the first OT and we then had a golden opportunity to start the 2nd OT on man up but their goalie came up with a nice save and they were able to get the game winner in transition.  A heartbreaking loss as we had put ourselves in a position to win but St. Lawrence played a heck of a game and never gave up.  They are a very good team (currently #3 on laxpower behind #1 RIT and #2 Tufts), and hopefully will give RIT a run in the Liberty League this year.

Next up we traveled down to Middletown, CT on Saturday for what turned out to be a great day for lacrosse.  We had a good crowd on hand and our guys came out focused early in this one as we went up 3-0 after the first quarter.  Will Ernst had a good day in the cage and came up with a few big saves early (along with a few HUGE ones late) to help us keep the momentum.

Once again John Jackson was dominant on face offs as he finished the day 13 for 20 and won most of them to himself.  Offensively we're still a pretty balanced group but two guys have begun to emerge in the midfield with Henry Riehl sticking two goals and Jack Gould finishing with three for the 2nd game in a row.  None bigger than his low to high game winner from 15yds in OT - 9–8 win for the Panthers.  Not exactly textbook shooting but the kid knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.

Lots of familiar faces in the stands for this one with the Pfeffer's making an appearance along with a confirmed Andrew Metros sighting.  Also great to see Jay Reilly, father of assistant Coach Jack Reilly after the game at the tailgate provided by the big green pizza trucks.

Next up we head over to Plattsburgh this afternoon for a 4pm showdown with the Cardinals.  They have some talented attackmen and a good face off specialist who gave John all he could handle a year ago.  A key to this game is going to be our man up unit as Plattsburgh committed 12 penalties against us in 2014 and 13 last year.  It promises to be another physical and heated contest, can't wait!
