Make Your PC Fast!

Everybody loves having a fast computer, but there aren't many people who can tell you how to build one. Sure, you can sift through all the magazine reviews and see that some computers are faster than others, but the reasons offered for what distinguishes the good performers from the bad are kind of flimsy. If your computer isn't as fast as you'd like it to be, what do you change? Nobody will tell you straight out. Some say to get a faster video card. Others tell you to upgrade your processor, or maybe add more RAM. All of these things might be good ideas, but there's no way to tell for sure without doing some testing.

Make Your PC Fast! gives you the information you need to do that testing, to figure out just what on your system works well and what needs to be replaced. The manufacturers don't want you to know this information--they want to sell you a whole new PC. We'll get down to real numbers that tell you where you stand, and the real tests that distinguish the performers from the slackers. Fast CPUs, fast motherboards, fast video, and fast disk drives are the goals, and I'll show you the tools that will lead you to them.
