There is an interesting article on Page 1of the Gannett Herald Satesman today
that mentions WATPA.

It reports on the fact that the city has rescinded a deal given last year by
the previous administration to an organization that would have had exclusive
rights to provide computer access to public city information.

The story indicates that City Council members had said previously that "the
citywas moving too fast before it explored how the county and its
municipalities were considering providing computer access to such
information.."

It then continues, "For example, the county library system and the
Westchester Alliance for Telecom-munications and Public Access are developing
a countywide 'Community Information Server' that would be accessible at
libraries and through home computer systems."

It is gratifying to read that the media acknowledges the existence and
mission of WATPA.

On another subject...

There was a meeting last night of the Public Relations Roundtable, sponsored
by the Advertising Club of Westchester. The meeting was held in the
conference room of the Westchester Library System

A major subject was the WATPA Pathmaster Web Site and the fact that
non-profit organizations are invited to be represented there at no cost.
There has been excellent response from a number of organizations and Mal
Nechis and I are proceeding to make the first pages happen.

At the meeting, WATPA was represented by Pat Colvin,
who volunteered to demonstrate on the screen what it is all about. Kudos
and thanks to Pat for doing a great job.
