RE: Verizon ATM DS3 Question

Incremental UNI appears to be a different way to provision UNI from Port
only or Port+Access

According to the Tariff:

"Incremental UNI is sold and provisioned with PVC and/or SVC bandwidth
increments (the DS1 UNI is not offered in increments)."

For Port Only, Verizon Tariff indicates on 5 a year Term:

DS3 Port Only Full: $1412
DS3 Port Only Incremental: $900

For Incremental DS3 Port, the bandwidth increments appear to be:

Line Rate (45Mbps) UBR PVC: $375
CBR PVC for 5Mbps: $75

As I think we'll only need 5Mbps for the first year, I'm thinking of going
with the CBR PVC for 5Mbps. That would be $975/month instead of $1412 saving
us $5244/Year. We'd save $1644/Year going with the 45Mbit UBR PVC, but
that's probably not worth the risk of what appears to be going outside the
norm here.

If the PVC is directly between us and Verizon, it shouldn't matter that it's
UBR.

I'm concerned however that there is some catch to this, that it's not an
acceptable configuration to Verizon, or that we'll have problems upgrading
to the full rate, etc.

By "incremental DS3", are you refering to purchasing the DS3 port
without the Access?
