Warnings and Precautions for Visitors

Visitors to Costa Rica should observe several precautionary measures to make sure their visit is as safe and trouble-free as possible. As any big city, San Jose has crime and tourists are a prime target.

*Behave as you would in any large capital of the world and keep an eye out. *Don't accept help straight off the airplane.
*Make sure your money is in a safe hiding place. A purse isn't very safe, try a waist-pouch.
*Hide your jewelry when you are walking down the street.

*A low rating means that the particular service is not beyond overbooking and not putting you up in an alternate hotel, or overcharging you when you return your car for hidden dents, etc. So, remember, forewarned is forearmed, with a little caution you can enjoy yourself in this beautiful country without a hangup.
