TOP 10 LIST Bob Gajarsky, Hoboken

(In no particular order)

1. Cause & Effect - Trip (Zoo) The Depeche Mode of the 90's. Keyboards, keyboards and more keyboards - but with a human touch.

2. Echobelly - Everyone's Got One (Rhythm King) The album Morrissey wishes he could have written in 1994. If you miss the Smiths, check out Echobelly.

3. Erasure - I Say, I Say, I Say (Mute/Elektra) Vince Clarke and Andy Bell make their best album since The Innocents and even explore a little into techno and gospel.

4. Grays - Ro Sham Bo (Epic) Classic harmonies and Beatles style influences make this eminently hummable. Paul and John aren't dead.

5. Oasis - Definitely Maybe (Epic) Who missed the Manchester sound? Definitely a hit.

6. Rake's Progress - Cheese Food Prostitute (hi fi) New York band keeps the indie spirit alive with an irresistible E.P. of 6 tracks which seemed like they got influenced by the best rock bands in the world.

7. R.E.M. - Monster (Warner) The four Athenians just can't but out a BAD album, can they? And, on this one, R.E.M. again reinvents themselves.

8. Superstar - Superstar (SBK) More harmonies - two and four part. If 70's AM radio sounded like this, FM wouldn't have had a chance to exist.

9. Wonder Stuff - If The Beatles Had Read Hunter (Polygram UK) The way an alternative pop band should sound. Their worst albums are better than most bands greatest hits - and this is *their* hits album. Brilliant.

10. Various Artists - Flashback Favorites (Oglio) The 80's compilations are all over the place, but the little label that could from California is showing the big boys how it's done. Don't live in oblivion - flashback!
