WestNet: Windows NT 4.0 Configuration



This page offers information on how to set up a PPP connection to WestNet on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 workstation or server.

  1. Open Dial-Up Networking:
    Start -> Programs -> Accessories - >Dial-up Networking

  2. Click on New, then OK. The New Phonebook Entry Wizard will appear.

  3. Name the new phonebook entry WestNet and click on Next.

  4. Check "I am calling the Internet" and click on Next.

  5. Enter the appropriate phone number:

  6. Click on Finish. The Dial-up Networking dialog box comes up -- click on Next.

  7. Use the default Phonebook entry, and click on the drop down menu:MORE -> "Edit entry and modem property"

  8. Click on the tab called Server.

  9. In the Dial-up server type box, click PPP.
    Under Network Protocols, select TCP/IP.
    Click on TCP/IP Setting.

  10. Choose "Server assigned IP address".
    Check "Specify name server addresses" and enter:

    Primary: 216.187.52.23
    Secondary: 216.187.52.24

    Leave checked "Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway on remote network".

  11. Click on the Script tab and choose None.

  12. Click on the Security tab.
    Click on "Accept any authentication, even clear text"
    Click on OK
You are now ready to dial in to WestNet! When the Connection Box appears, please enter your userid and password (in lower-case letters), and leave the Domain Name line blank.
